Summer Winds

A Summer Band Program for Woodwind, Percussion, & Brass Players
Under the direction of Daryl Robbins & Guest Conductors

A Program for:

• Woodwind, Brass, & Percussionists who have completed at least 1 year of instruction
• Players who desire to improve their skills (perfect for those taking up a 2nd instrument!)
• Players who want to “keep up their chops”—Stay in shape over the summer!
• Those who want to be inspired by playing with committed & enthusiastic musicians
• Students who would like to improve their confidence

• Opportunities to play with others in a variety of ensemble settings
• Rehearsals from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm Tuesdays & Thursdays
• Opportunity for additional rehearsals from 5:30-6 pm for more challenging music
• Optional “extra help” for notes, fingerings & rhythms available Wednesday 4:30-5:30 pm
• Chance to play a variety of music including The Simpsons, Linus and Lucy, Pirates of the Caribbean, Smoke on the Water, Evil Ways, Theme from Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Handel’s Royal Fireworks, as well as other concert favorites
• Options to play in smaller group ensembles and advanced group ensembles
• Tools for “fearless” sight-reading & performance in front of an audience
• An approach to build musicians’ self-confidence
• Opportunities for solos
• Inspiration for beginning players; Mentoring opportunities for advanced players; and an encouraging atmosphere for growth at any level!
• Coaching in articulation & phrasing, breathing, sight-reading, & ensemble-playing
• Two informal performances (all participants are invited to play, even if rehearsals are missed!)

• $195 per student for the entire summer—attend as much or as little as you like!
• Register and pay by June 1, 2009 to receive $50 discount (Full tuition due by June 30)
• $10 enrollment fee (no fee for students who have paid 2008-9 registration fee)
• Music fee approximately $25 (not included in tuition, opportunity for music trade-in)
• Parent Instrumentalists may attend without additional fee (with paid student tuition)
• Sign up with a friend---you’ll each get an additional $20 discount on your tuition!
